Philosophy on early childhood education

The vine symbolises connection, friendship, strength and determination. Our early learning centre is all about family and community in an area that is rich in grape vines, orchards and market gardens. Therefore, to us, naming our early learning centre The Vines just seemed fitting.

Early childhood education takes a team

At The Vines, we believe that every child deserves to feel valued, respected, and supported. We believe in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can grow, learn and explore their interests.

A collaborative approach to learning with whānau is extremely important to us. We work in partnership with families to provide a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and included. We develop strong connections with tamariki and their whānau so we can fully support and develop the learning journey of each individual child in our care while meeting the aspirations of their whānau.

Our kaiako believe all tamariki are unique, just as we believe the same of our kaiako.

We value each of our team members and focus on developing a positive team culture to support them in building relationships to inspire and encourage each child at our centre to learn and discover.

Play fosters the love of learning

The Vines provide an enriching and challenging learning environment. Our job is to support the holistic growth of each child through the empowerment of their learning, experiences and opportunities. We’ll help them develop respectful, nurturing relationships and encourage them to express themselves, experiment and explore through play.

Encouraging exploration, creativity, independence, leadership and a sense of social awareness

The Vines Early Learning is committed to honouring and celebrating the unique bicultural heritage of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Incorporating local tangata whenua, te Reo, tikanga and te Ao Māori into our daily practice and early childhood education curriculum supports our place in honouring our Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership and ensuring all tamariki are encouraged to celebrate our heritage, history and their place in it. We share and honour our local curriculum and history with tamariki, guiding them in developing a connection with our natural environment and the gifts from Papatūānuku.
