Looking to the future with hope
As Matariki rises in the winter sky, we are reminded to reflect on the past and celebrate the present. But it is also a time to contemplate the promise that comes with each new year. It’s a chance to look ahead with hope and intention.
Matariki is a special moment when whānau gather, kai is shared, and intentions are set for the year to come. This year, our tamariki and kaiako At The Vines Early Childhood Centre embraced the spirit of Matariki by coming together with our whānau to celebrate the new year. It was a time to share learning, express gratitude, and dream about what lies ahead.
Most of all, we celebrated our tamariki: our hope, our joy, and the future of Aotearoa.

Matariki Manako Nui – Looking ahead together
On Thursday, 19th June, we hosted a relaxed and welcoming evening event for families. From 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm, whānau joined us to celebrate Matariki at The Vines and to check out some of the Matariki learning that had been happening across the centre. Each room had a special activity that tamariki enjoyed alongside their parents or caregivers.
Sharing our learning with whānau
This event reflected what we value deeply at The Vines: strong partnerships with whānau. The wider world of family and community is an integral part of early childhood curriculum, and we believe a collaborative approach is essential to supporting each child’s learning journey.
By building relationships with families through events like Matariki at The Vines, we can meet their aspirations and provide care that is responsive, respectful and inclusive.
Children are our future
At The Vines, we believe every child deserves to feel valued, respected and supported. We provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where tamariki can grow, learn and explore their interests.
We see each child as unique, and our kaiako are just as diverse in their strengths and passions. Together, we create a space where tamariki are encouraged to wonder, investigate, express themselves and engage with the world around them. These skills will help them thrive not just now, but into the future.

Matariki reminds us that the future is full of possibilities. Our tamariki are at the centre of that future. Their curiosity, creativity and confidence today will shape the world of tomorrow. We are proud to walk alongside them as they learn, grow and shine.
Looking forward with purpose at The Vines
Matariki encourages us all to set intentions for the year ahead. At The Vines, our intention is clear: to continue providing an environment where tamariki feel empowered to learn, to grow, and to look to the future with excitement.
